How we compared

Each app is described using its own public Shopify App Store listing as of June 2026. The limitations noted are general, verifiable properties of each protection method, how web browsers and operating systems behave, not faults of any one app. The 20 most-reviewed apps get a full page; the rest are grouped by the approach stated in their own listing. App names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Nothing here is legal advice.

Client-side blockers 34

Scripts that run in the visitor's browser to discourage saving: disabling right-click, copy, drag, printing, developer tools, or keyboard shortcuts. They act only while someone is on your store, and the image is already downloaded to the device in order to be shown. Once a copy leaves, nothing about it ties back to you.

Visible watermark apps 9

Apps that stamp a visible logo or text onto your product photos. The mark travels with a copy, which is a real advantage over a blocker, but it sits on the image your customers see and can be cropped out or removed with free AI tools. It also does not, on its own, let you detect a copy elsewhere or prove ownership for a takedown.
