FAQ

Questions, answered.

The basics, the technology, using Tilkie day to day, and how proof turns into a takedown.

The basics

What does Tilkie do?

Tilkie invisibly watermarks your Shopify product images so you can prove they are yours. If an image is stolen, you can detect your watermark in the copy and generate a Chain of Proof certificate to support a takedown.

Will the watermark change how my images look?

No. The watermark is invisible to the human eye because it lives inside the pixels. Your product photos look identical, and only Tilkie's algorithm can read the mark.

Do I need any technical skills?

None. Install from the Shopify App Store, choose what to protect, and you are done. Detection is drag-and-drop.

Does it slow down my store?

No. Watermarking happens in Tilkie's processing pipeline, not in your storefront. Your shoppers load normal images.

The technology

How is this different from a visible watermark?

A visible watermark sits on top of the image where everyone can see it, and modern AI tools can remove it in seconds. Tilkie's mark is embedded invisibly across the whole image, so there is nothing to see and nothing obvious to erase.

What is TrustMark?

TrustMark is a state-of-the-art neural watermarking algorithm backed by Adobe. Tilkie uses it to embed and read marks that survive real-world image manipulation.

Does the watermark survive screenshots and editing?

Yes. It is designed to survive resizing, cropping, blurring, re-encoding, format conversion, and even adding or removing elements from the image.

Can someone remove the watermark?

There is no single spot to crop out, and the mark carries error correction, so partial or degraded copies still report a match. That resilience is the whole point of the approach.

Using Tilkie

How do I protect my images?

Protect an individual product from its page, select products by collection for bulk protection, or turn on Auto-Protect to cover new images automatically.

Is protection reversible?

Yes. Protection is non-destructive. Your originals are preserved and you can revert at any time, or if you downgrade your plan.

How do I check a suspicious image?

Open Tilkie, then paste the image link or drop the file into the detector. You will see in seconds whether it carries your watermark.

What happens if I hit my plan limits?

You can upgrade at any time. If you downgrade, Tilkie restores images over your new limit back to their originals, so nothing breaks.

Proof and enforcement

What is a Chain of Proof certificate?

It is a dated, technical ownership document Tilkie generates for an infringing image. It records image hashes, detection details, and a verification QR code, formatted to support DMCA and marketplace takedowns.

Why do I need proof at all?

Hosts, marketplaces, and ad platforms will not remove content on suspicion. They require definitive proof of ownership. The certificate is built to be exactly that.

Can Tilkie help with the takedown itself?

Yes. Beyond generating proof, Tilkie partners with IP-protection specialists who can assist with targeted takedowns for stubborn or repeat infringers.

Which plans include certificates?

The Free plan shows a redacted preview. The Paid plan includes 3 downloadable certificates. The Pro plan includes unlimited certificates.
